17 Pasos, 2020. | |||||
17 Pasos is a short film that collects, as a documentary record, the relationship between the professional and personal life of the author, her partner and various participants (family, acquaintances and people unknown to the artist before this project) during the time of confinement by the COVID-19 pandemic. While the artist is confined, she collects in images what she captures in her home and in her surroundings, while using the distance between the living room and kitchen, 17 steps, as a path to walk along daily for an hour in order to walk and reflect on your own life and that of people, known or not, but whose testimony you have been able to collect. Each person who participates in the work contributes their work and personal experience during confinement. Among them, there are those who have been able to create a new way of developing the profession, those who have had to reinvent themselves and those who have ceased their activity until the winds blow better. The author's voice-over throughout the work weaves themes and people into a reflective proposal about what we have experienced, the past that has brought us here, the dystopian present and an uncertain future that proposes a new consciousness as a basis. of the social as an inherent and indivisible part of oneself. Music and poetic images provide a sensitive counterpoint to an outside world that has filtered dystopia into homes and lives, while love for the planet and solidarity are the intimate desire of an artist who retains hope in being human. |
